Cypress Tree Tunnel

Point Reyes National Seashore has long been one of my favorite coastal escapes—a place where the Pacific Ocean collides dramatically with rugged cliffs and windswept beaches. The natural beauty here feels endless, from rolling hills to crashing waves, and it’s easily one of my go-to spots for hiking and unplugging from the everyday.
On this visit, we set out for the iconic Cypress Tree Tunnel, one of the most photographed locations in the area. We arrived just after 8am, and to our delight, we had the entire tunnel to ourselves. With no crowds in sight, the early morning light filtered perfectly through the towering Monterey cypress trees, creating a dreamy, almost cinematic setting. It was the perfect opportunity to slow down, take it all in, and capture some truly beautiful photos.
At the end of the tunnel stands a historic white building, which was closed during our visit but adding to the timeless charm of the scene. (For practical purposes, you’ll also find a few portable restrooms nearby.)
Whether you’re visiting for a peaceful stroll beneath the trees, a scenic photo shoot, or simply to admire one of nature’s most picturesque corridors, the Cypress Tree Tunnel is absolutely worth the stop. If you can, plan for early morning to avoid the crowds. That said, we’ve heard the tunnel is equally magical at sunset, when golden light transforms the entire pathway into something unforgettable.
