Come spring, all across social media, we see infinite flower fields everywhere. Beautiful people in the flower fields. Dancing. Running around. Taking pictures. So vibrant. So mesmerizing. We just have to visit for ourselves!

The Carlsbad Flower Fields (known as The Flower Fields), is a fifty-acre flower field full of ranunculus, in a variety of different colors. Located in Carlsbad, California, it is just a short drive from San Diego! Not only do they have the rainbow ranunculus fields, they also have many experiences and fun for everyone!

Keep reading on to find out how to visit the Carlsbad Flower Fields.

When to Visit

Peak season is late March to early May, but the flower may bloom earlier or later depending on weather.

I highly recommend checking out their website for bloom status, which they are pretty good about providing updates.

Where to Purchase Tickets

Tickets MUST be purchased online (and in advance) on their website. They do not sell tickets on site anymore.

What to Expect

The dream is to wander endlessly through the flower fields.

The reality is that the flowers are guarded off and there are workers who will yell at you if you go into the fields. However, there are photo booths with benches that you can go take pictures with the flowers. On weekends and peak times, there are long lines for these.

Other things to do at the Flower Fields

Butterfly Encounter (extra fee) – encounter butterflies with a nectar stick, but be careful, they may also land on you or on the ground!

Sweet Pea Maze – can you find your way out of the sweet pea maze?

Orchid Greenhouse – filled with multicolored cymbidium orchids, they also have benches set up photoshoots with the orchids!

Tractor Wagon Ride (extra fee) – takes you around the lively flower fields.

Carlsbad Mining Company – mine for a gemstone by sluicing water through sand!

Santa’s Playground – a fun playground for kids!

Sunflower Field – at the end of the flower fields (if you make it there), is a five-acre sunflowers field!

Gardens – there are a variety of gardens to explore (all are beautiful), such as Illusion Garden, Sculpture Garden, Pothead Garden, and Demonstration Garden.

EAT – there are a lot of snacks to try, such as pizza, tacos, ice cream, shakes, whole whips, popcorn, lemonade, cotton candy, coffee, etc.
